PROGRAM UPDATES
Training Curriculum
Unlike other AAU club teams, we focus on skill development, athletic performance, and mental mindset which represent the 3-pillars of our program. For some practices, we will emphasize different areas that we need to focus on, thereby spending more or less time during practice. Over the last several weeks, we have incorporated more offensive and defensive concepts and will continue to teach the core fundamentals and principles that are important at the next level.
I am proud to announce that we have finally secured the Fulton HS gym as well as the Alemany HS gym. We are working to finalize an agreement with another HS gym in the Valley. More info to come. Once we secure all the gyms, we will be the only club team that offers multiple gym locations for training opportunities, with our Simi Valley location being our primary training center with all of the training amenities for skill development, performance training, and mental mindset. Let's GO!!!

Coaching Staff
Coach Shawn Hackett, who I consider one of the top skills trainers and high school basketball coaches in the Valley will be re-joining the SoCal Hoops coaching staff this week. He was unavailable the last few months as he served as an assistant coach at de Toledo HS and led the team to their best season in school history. Coach Hackett has coached for SoCal Hoops from day 1 and I am excited about him re-joining the coaching staff.
Coach Tyler will also be part of the SoCal Hoops coaching staff. He too has coached for SoCal Hoops from day 1 and I am excited about him re-joining the coaching staff.

Tourney Plans
The period from March thru August is the most important training period for all of our teams and players. Many of our teams begin to play in competitive tourneys and many of our players prepare to play at the next level (whether it be the next level at MS or HS).
All of the SoCal Hoops teams are ready for higher level competition. For 10U, 13U, 14U, and HS boys teams, we are planning to start playing in tournaments in March (tentative schedule coming soon). We will play 1 or 2 tourneys in March and plan to play in 2 tourneys per month. During the weekends where there are no tourneys, we will play in local games. In order to be successful, we will need everyone to be committed to practices, local games (Saturday or Sunday), and tournament games (Saturday and Sunday).

New 10U, 11U, and 12U Teams
Over the past few months, we have had a primary 10U (4th grade team) with a few 11U players. In order to maximize on curt playing time, we will now have separate 10U and 11U (5th grade) teams. For the near term, we may ask a few of the 10U players to play on both 10U and 11U teams until we have more players to fill out the 11U roster. We may also ask a few of the 12U players to help the 11U team until we get more players for the 12U (6th grade) team. More games + more playing time for everyone!
Girls Teams
We have a new 14U girls team that has been playing under Coach Alexa. The girls are getting better and winning games. They will continue to play in local games and tournaments.
Our 13U girls team took a few weeks off as many of the girls are playing other sports such as volleyball, soccer, and school basketball. We plan to start playing games again in March as soon as schedules free up. I encourage all of the girls to continue training and practicing as we prepare for high school hoops. The girls need to continue to develop their skills and on-court play in order to be successful at the high school level.

New Boys and Girls Teams
Please help spread the word about SoCal Hoops, as we are forming new boys and girls teams from 8U (2nd grade) thru HS. If you know of any players interested developing their game, please send them to the website or have them contact Coach Randy directly at 310-804-3279.
High School Combine Program
We are planning to start a high school combine program, targeted for 7th-11th graders. This is a specialized basketball training program comprised of players who want to significantly improve their game in a short amount of time. We are planning to start this training program in March. More info to come.
