SoCal Hoops 9U (SELECT) Team

Dear SoCal Hoops Parents,

Congratulations!!!  Your player has been selected to become an official member of the SoCal Hoops 9U SELECT Team, a team composed of 12 players who will compete in competitive shootouts, league games, and tourneys and look to become nationally ranked over time (once we get to the Elite level).  At SoCal Hoops, we have 3 different team levels Select, Premier, and Elite, with the Elite team being the most competitive, comprised of beginner to highly skilled players.  As for all levels, playing time is never guaranteed, it is earned by on-court performance.

Official Roster for SoCal Hoops 9U SELECT Team (more players to be added):
  1. Christopher Oden
  2. Nathan Oden
  3. Dean Brandt
  4. SJ Halburian
  5. Raffa Bartolome
  6. Austin Hackett
  7. Gabriel Oconitrillo
  8. Jeremiah Suriel

As you have seen, our 9U team was very competitive during league play , almost advancing to the championship game (note we were missing a few of our key players).  Although we did not advance to the championship game, our players showed significant improvement on the court both for individual and team play.  Over the next several months, we want to continue our individual and team development and gain more exposure for the SoCal Hoops 9U SELECT team.  We are so proud of how the boys played during the last several games.

As we continue to play in more competitive shootouts and tourneys, we want to outfit the boys with the most awesome looking gear to match their style of play.  We offered this apparel package to the SoCal Hoops 12U PREMIER team and their on-court chemistry and performance just skyrocketed.  The package includes new shoes, special cardinal and gray colored uniforms, shooting shirts with hoodies, sublimation printed hoodies, and backpacks.  I guarantee the boys will love their new gear, but more importantly it is well deserved.

We are asking all parents to make a minimum donation amount of $150 to cover some of the costs, as specified below.  For parents who have more financial resources available, feel free to to sponsor the entire cost for a specific line item (i.e. backpacks or shoes) or multiple line items.  Note all donations are 100% tax deductible as since you are donating to an official 501c3 organization.  If we don't raise the total amount of $5,340, we will apply all funds towards the purchase of new uniforms and shoes as the main priority and the other accessories as the secondary priority.  We will continue to raise funds throughout the year and apply those funds toward our gear.

To be a part of any SoCal Hoops team, there are certain requirements and commitments that the players/parents must meet.

  • Cannot play or participate on any other club team
  • Always attend team practices every Friday
  • Regularly participate in weekend games
  • Always pay game and tourney fees of ~$20/game, $140/league, and $80/tourney
  • Regularly attend skills training sessions every Monday
  • Regularly participate in team practices every Friday

Becoming an official member of a SoCal Hoops Team requires a long-term commitment from players and parents.  Players who join a higher level team (i.e. PREMIER or ELITE) and don't continue to meet all the requirements (both on and off the court) may be asked to play on a lower level team.  Please reply by filling out the form at the bottom of this page, informing me of your decision to ACCEPT or DECLINE the opportunity to become a member of the SoCal Hoops Team.

Again, congratulations on being invited to participate on an official SoCal Hoops Team.  We have a long road ahead of us but I am proud of how the boys have been playing recently and excited about the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.  Please let us know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.

Thanks,
The SoCal Hoops Coaching Staff
