PORTER RANCH, Calif., Sept. 24, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- SoCal Hoops Basketball Academy - A Return to the FUNDAMENTALS of the Game, today announced that the organization is offering their players an opportunity to DREAM BIG and enter the SoCal Hoops App Idea Contest for a chance to win monetary prizes and awards. The 501c3 non-profit organization will review all the submissions by Sept. 30, 2014 and select the top 3 ideas. From there, the organization will decide which apps they want to actually develop and bring to market, working closely with the applicant to develop and design the app and offer it in the Apple App Store and Google Play.
"We are excited to offer this great opportunity to our players," said Randy Narciso - Founder and Head Coach SoCal Hoops Basketball Academy. "How often do you see elementary, middle, or high school students actually think of an app idea and bring it to market? We have the resources to make this happen. The only requirement is the app has to be related to sports and basketball. If we select a player's app idea and decide to create, develop, and sell it, 50% of the profits will be donated to SoCal Hoops to help support our non-profit organization."
"We are working with a few software development firms to help bring our app ideas to market," said Coach Hack - VP of Basketball Operations SoCal Hoops Basketball Academy. "As a teacher and head coach at my school, I understand the importance to inspire and motivate players on and off the court. The SoCal Hoops app idea contest is a great way to teach kids how to leverage today's technologies to solve real world problems in the sports or basketball market."
"SoCal Hoops already uses advanced web and app based technologies to run our organization and communicate with our players and parents," said Salaam Thompson - Head Coach SoCal Hoops Basketball Academy. "We have an app in the App Store and Google Play Store that allows our parents use to stay informed of all the upcoming events, games, and practices. By offering this contest to our players, we are now allowing our own players to help think of new app ideas that they developed on their own."
